When you think of California, snow is not the first thing that pops in one’s head. However, due to recent weather conditions the mountains and certain valleys in LA county have seen snow for the first time in over 50 years. With about 9 inches of snow, Southern California’s closets winter resort, Mountain High, is the perfect day get away for us to get our snow fix. Mountain High is located just an hour and a half from L.A. and Orange County, you won't find an easier drive to the mountains anywhere.

Offering season passes for those who love to snowboard and ski, Mountain High also offers day passes for those to enjoy the snow with activities such as tubing, sledding, Scenic Sky Chair Ride and snow play. One thing I will recommend if time is limited, they offer half off tickets for the last hour of the park. It was such a great experience to enjoy the snow so close to home and not have this notion that we need to travel either hours to the next snow city or out of state to enjoy it. I strongly suggest you dress accordingly; snow gear is highly recommended. I thought I was fine with my rain boots because when will I ever need snow boots in California right? Well, I learned really quick that I should have invested on some snow boots or hiking boots because I was slipping everywhere! Haha
